This Privacy Policy describes how DBD Soft ("we," "us") handles information in connection with QR Buddy (the "App").
The App does not collect or store personal information such as your name, address, Google/Amazon account, email address, or phone number. The App does not display advertisements or use any analytics SDK. It does not require an account to use. If you purchase the Pro unlock, your payment is handled entirely by Google Play or the Amazon Appstore (whichever store you installed the App from), as described in "Purchases" below — we never see or receive your payment details.
The App is directed at children as well as general audiences, and is designed with that in mind: it collects nothing about you or your child, shows no ads, and includes no social features, chat, or links to external websites from within the App's kid-facing screens.
Everything you create in the App — QR/barcodes you've generated, drawings in the Paintings Gallery, your chosen mascot/theme/appearance settings, unlock status, and milestone progress — is stored locally on your device only, in a private, sandboxed app database and settings store that other apps cannot access. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party. If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted along with it (subject to your device's own backup settings — see "Backups" below).
The App uses your device's camera to scan QR codes and barcodes — this is one of the App's core features. The camera is active only while a scan screen is open; no photo or video is ever saved, recorded, or transmitted anywhere. Scanned codes are decoded entirely on-device, and only the resulting text is shown to you or saved into the App's local database as described above.
The App can read on-screen text aloud (for children who can't read yet) using your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. This happens entirely on-device — no audio is recorded, and no text is sent anywhere for this feature to work.
The App lets you print a code (via Android's standard Print framework) or share a code image using your device's normal share sheet. In both cases, the App hands the image to a system feature you choose — a printer you've already set up, or an app you pick from the share menu (e.g. Messages, email) — and does not itself upload, transmit, or retain a copy anywhere. Whatever destination you choose (a printer, or an app from the share sheet) handles the content according to its own privacy practices from that point on.
If the App crashes or hits a serious error, a basic diagnostic report is sent automatically to Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service): what kind of crash it was, which part of the App it happened in, your device model, OS version, and the App's version. This report never includes any content you've created (your codes, drawings, or anything typed into the App), your name, or anything else that identifies you — it's purely technical information used to find and fix bugs, never for advertising, tracking, or building a profile of you. This is the only network activity the App performs outside of purchase processing (see "Purchases" below).
QR Buddy Pro is offered as a one-time, non-subscription unlock, sold and processed entirely through Google Play Billing (Play Store installs) or Amazon's In-App Purchasing service (Amazon Appstore / Fire tablet installs). When you purchase, your payment method, billing details, and transaction are handled directly by that store — the App never receives, sees, or stores any payment or card information. The App only learns whether the Pro unlock is currently owned, which it uses to unlock extra customization, print sizes, and styles. You can view or get help with a purchase from your store account's own purchase history, independent of the App.
Aside from purchase processing (handled by Google Play or Amazon) and crash reports (handled by Firebase Crashlytics, see "Crash Reports" above), the App makes no outbound network requests. Creating, scanning, drawing, printing, and sharing codes all work fully without a network connection.
The App requests no other permissions (no microphone, location, contacts, SMS, or call data).
Your codes, drawings, and settings may be included in your device's standard backup if you have that enabled at the OS level (e.g. Android's Auto Backup, where available). On Fire tablets, which don't include Google's backup services, this typically has no effect. Nothing in this data is sensitive beyond content you've chosen to create in the App.
Everything described above stays on your device under your control until you delete it or uninstall the App — we never receive it. We retain nothing, because we collect nothing.
QR Buddy is designed to be used by children, including on Amazon Kids+/FreeTime profiles. In keeping with COPPA and Amazon's Child-Directed App policy, the App collects no personal information from anyone, shows no advertisements, and includes no analytics, chat, or social features. The only data ever sent off-device is the anonymous technical crash diagnostics described under "Crash Reports" — used solely to find and fix bugs, never for advertising, tracking, or profiling, which fits within COPPA's allowance for information used strictly to maintain and improve the App ("support for internal operations"). If you believe the App is behaving in a way that's inconsistent with this policy, contact us at dbdsoft@gmail.com and we will investigate promptly.
The App collects nothing that identifies you, so there is no personal data for us to process, disclose, or be asked to delete. If you have any concern, contact us at dbdsoft@gmail.com.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, for example if a future version adds a feature that changes what's described above. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
Since the App collects nothing about you and stores your content only on your own device, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or export on your behalf. If you have questions about this policy, contact us below.
